FCA Sales in Italy 2019



In Italy, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles closed 2019 with sales totaling 452,000 vehicles for the year and market share at 23.6%. For the fourth quarter, Group sales totaled 99,000 vehicles (22.0% market share) and sales for the second half of the year totaled 185,000 vehicles (22.2% market share).
In December, Group sales totaled nearly 31,000 vehicles and market share was 22.1%.

Best-sellers in their respective segments were the Fiat Panda, Fiat Qubo, Lancia Ypsilon and Alfa Romeo Stelvio. In the Italian top ten, the Fiat Panda, which continued as overall market leader by a solid margin, was accompanied by four other FCA models. These included the Lancia Ypsilon, Fiat 500X, Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade.

Lancia posted particularly positive results in 2019 with sales up 21.0% year-over-year to 59,000 vehicles, driven by strong demand for the Ypsilon, which confirmed its position as segment leader in Italy. Market share for the year was up 0.5 percentage points to 3.1%.
In December, brand sales totaled nearly 4,000 vehicles and market share was 2.8%, while sales in the fourth quarter totaled 13,000 vehicles with market share at 2.9%. With sales significantly higher year-over-year, the Lancia Ypsilon was the third best-selling vehicle in Italy overall and leader in the B segment.

Fiat closed the year with December sales in Italy up 2.9% to nearly 19,300 vehicles and market share at 13.8%.
For the year, brand sales totaled nearly 286,000 vehicles and share was 14.9%. The Panda continued to lead the overall rankings for the year (as well as in December, with 10,200 vehicles sold) and it was the best-selling model in the A segment.
The Fiat Qubo was the best-selling MPV, demonstrating the flexibility and spaciousness of this compact model which have contributed to its enduring success. Positive results also for the 500X (ranked in the top ten and also leader in its segment for the year), the Tipo (continuing as one of the leaders in the C segment) and the 500L (segment leader for the year).

Abarth celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2019 with a series of special editions that proved very popular with customers. Brand sales were up 7.0% year-over-year.

Jeep brand posted full-year sales of 81,500 vehicles in Italy with market share at 4.25%. In December, brand sales totaled more than 5,700 vehicles and market share was 4.1%. With strong sales growth in recent years, Jeep consolidated its position as leader in the SUV segment through its uncompromising range of four-wheel drive models. The arrival of new models produced at the plant in Melfi, Italy in the coming months (new Compass and plug-in hybrid versions of the Compass and Renegade) will give additional momentum to the brand's results.
Results were strong for the Renegade (second only to the Fiat 500X in its segment), Compass (among the top ten overall and one of the leaders in its segment) and the Cherokee, which posted a 120% sales increase for the year.

Alfa Romeo closed 2019 with a total of 25,900 vehicles sold and market share at 1.35%. In December, sales totaled more than 2,000 vehicles (+4.8% year-over-year) and market share was 1.4%. This represented one of the best monthly results in 2019.
The Stelvio was leader in its segment for both the year and for December, when it posted a 19.3% segment share. The Alfa Romeo Giulia also continued among the leaders in the highly competitive D segment despite being offered exclusively in a sedan version.
